For students summer time is the most relaxing time of the year. A nice long break from studies, hanging out with friends, and experiencing new things are just a few of the perks to summer break. Hilo is one of the largest cities in the state of Hawaii and it is the largest of the settlements on the island of Hawai’i. The observatories are located on the summit of Mauna Kea and are an independent collection of research facilities. The are situated in a specially designated land zone area that takes up five hundred acres and collectively is known as the Astronomy Precinct. This region is particularly great for astronomical viewing due to the intensely dark skies, the low humidity, it’s great weather, clean air and clear skies. This sounds like a great place to live, let alone look at the universe. Another positive element is its position close to the equator.
